What are "bins"?i have just installed mjl in my tiger kit car, pinto 2.0 twin 45's 285 cam.was dyno ed at 173 bhp with dissey and points.TPS fitted. What should the left hand vertical numbers refer to?Is this a percentage of throttle opening? ie 10 to 100,why have i seen maps with numbers from 0 to 267,what does this equate to?any help, thanks ,Tim
The left hand vertical numbers represent engine load. With a TPS -optioned MJLJ this represents engine load based on TPS %.
With a MAP sensor, these number indicate absolute manifold pressure, in Kilopascals (KPa). 0 KPa is perfect vacuum, 20-40 KPa is about idle on most cars, 100 is about atmosphere pressure - or Wide Open Throttle - on most naturally aspirated engines. Anything above about 100 is for boosted engines (super/turbo charged).
Consequently, the MAP-sensor based ignition maps can be translated to TPS and vice-versa with some minor effort.
Hope this helps!
