Megajolt V4

Post by minimad »

Hi im new here and am abit stuck. I have got mini and i have wired in the megajolt and got the car up and runnning on a basic map. Now that i try to connect to it i i get the usual error message. I have tried 3 different laptops, a desktop and have tried 2 different leads. I have checked the leads for continuity and being the correct way round etc. I have tried using hyperterminal and still no joy. Have I fried the unit? even tho the car still runs. Can anyone help? Many thanks Aaron

Are you using a laptop with a real 9-pin serial port or are you using a USB-serial adaptor?

Also-

was your unit successfully communicating with your PC at some previous time, perhaps on the bench, or when you first wired it in?

Aside from communications, does it still control ignition advance? You can verify this by observing the engine with a timing light. If the MJLJ is functional you would see it adjusting advance as you varied RPM.

Let us know what you find out-

Good info- at least the unit is basically alive.

What error message do you see at the bottom of the screen when you try to communicate?
