Timing sensor and rolling road

MJ is now up and running on my mini next job is to get it on to rolling road and set up but was wondering when i set the sensor up its not 100% (Its close probably get it with trigger offset) what would happen if i let the guy map it on the rolling road with the sensor a bit out?

Surely it would still setup fine the only downside i can think of is when letting someone else try the map

Also if the sensor was way out the ignition figures would be too high / low for software (its not way out btw )

Any others? Don't panic im borrowing a timing light this weekend and sorting it, I'm just interested to know if my thinking is correct

Just to add timing with MJ disconnected was 14 advance so i set trigger offset at -4 is this correct?

If you know it is 4 dgs wrong (since it was 14dgs without MJLJ), just compensate for it with the controller software.
I don't know if you are using a V3 or V4, but both can compensate for a wrongly set trigger.

-4 is right

To prove that on my car I put 10 in the first few rows of the ignition table so with your offset, the timing light should show a steady 10 advanced.
