Write To and Commit To symbols grayed out

I first clicked on write to and it grayed out, than after a bit clicked on commit to make it permanent. The symbols grayed out, and never came back. Shut off, restarted (both car and .exe program), still grayed out. However, what was saved was committed, apparently, as that's what is retrieved now when it starts.

What does this mean?

Hi Mark,

The buttons are made available to click when the software thinks something has changed. For example, if you change your map, you can upload the changes. If you upload the changes, then you can flash. And so on.
