I had bought a 1992 SPI cooper mini to restore, and to cut a long story short it was totally rotten and beyond saving, So I stripped it and used the engine and interior were used to upgrade another mini. This Mini started life as a 1982 mini city e in blue. The previous owner had painted it Orange and was using it for Auto testing, and was still fitted with a 998 engine. The car was rebuilt during 2006/2007 and run for a year with the standard SPI engine.
Then I got the tuning bug, and decided to build a new engine over the winter of 2008. and after reading up on various engine management systems and also fitting a Emerald/Jenvey Ignition and Injection system to my father's MK1 Escort I got the bug and went for a megajolt kit.
The current spec of the engine is
Mini 1275 type engine.
1380 cc with Omega forged pistons, unleaded MED stage 3 head
Swiftune SW5 Cam and Titan 1.5 Roller rockers
Silent type full width adjustable cam drive chain
Standard re-built gearbox and diff
HIFF44 carb on MG metro inlet with ITG ram pipe filter
Megajolt lt jr kit from triggerwheels.
The car is fitted with Minisport 4 pot 7.9" alloy calipers and minifins on the rear.

Nice to see another City E that has been jolted and running 10" wheels, shame mine doesn't look as smart as yours though. I see you have a pre-verto clutch on there too, with a lightened flywheel by any chance??
What map are you currently running on it with a setup like that?? and what sort of power are you getting??

The engine was bought secondhand but stripped and fully rebuilt, there were a few bodges that were sorted out as I went along, the basic block and pistons were good but the ancilleries were all from a small bore engine, it had no breathers and the gearbox would have broke if I had put it in the car.
The flywheel and backplate both look to have been lightened, but seemed good so were re-used, the engine came with a Grey (race) clutch spring plate which is proving to be a bit heavy for the road, I am looking to change it before the summer.
The map I am using is basically a 1380 map I downloaded from somewhere, I printed several different maps from different sources off and compiled an average map from them all, it seems to work well with no pinking, and the engine pulls well, I was hoping to get some advice from here as to how to improve the mapping.
As to the BHP. No idea! I would expect it to be getting up to 90-100 but that is just a guess. We dont have any rolling roads on the Isle of Man, so it is a 4hr boat trip to get to one. There is a man in North Wales who seems to know a bit about mini's and MJ who I am looking to get to sometime soon. (eh Steve)
I would love to set up my own rolling road in the future, but not sure where to start. May be a lottery win would be the easiest.
