oil pump drive

Post by Drew0569 »

Does anybody here know if there's an oil pump drive device I can install in place of the distributor on my small block V-8 Ford to drive the oil pump? If no such device exists, I can only figure that I'll have to modify a distributor to act as nothing more than an oil pump drive when I install a Megajolt system. Thanks!

Hi

There is some stuff on the net about this. I think I've seen a Ford 3.8ltr V6 cam sensor modified for use. Try searching cam sensors or the like. I have the same problem, but have decided that chopping the top off the dissy is probably cheaper and esier in the long run.

Check out this site: http://www.detomaso.nu/~thomast/efi/

sorry i had the wrong end of the stick

thought you were looking for a suitable external oil pump candiadate not a way to make the current pump work with no dizzy

my suggestion was the datsun ZX pump driven off the cam mounted on the timing cover

that works well on v8s but i'm not answering your question

you press then cog off the orginal drive and machine/tap or thread it so it can mount to your cam sprocket so it stick out through the timing cover far enough to drive the oil pump
oil pump needs an ally mount mmade up and pressed steal cover needs a plate welded to it
