quick one about connection.

Post by boldy205 »

Hi, just a quick one, i guess that when the MJLJ is correctly connected to the configurator (laptop) that my map should apear on the screen? Or do i have to click on the 'GET CONFIGURATION' button?
Many thanks.

I find when i connect up it usually finds the ignition map i'm using, but if i switch over the ignition map with the option switch then i do have to press the "get configuration button in order for it to appear. However the advance gauge always seems to indicate the correct advance and does not need refreshing.

Nitro- thats strange, on mine the laptop will automagically change to display the map that i am switched to. Its pretty obvious when i change as the values are quite different between petrol and LPG...

Isnt there a dialogue box somewhere where you set it to auto-read on change of map, prompt you to read upon switchover, or just notify?

Rev limiter, quick question

Post by boldy205 »

Hi, i have finaly sorted the conection to my MJLJ, by ditching the USB convertor and getting the PC into the garage which has a serial port!
Just wondering how to set rev limiter (soft cut). I have got my map etc up on screen, and have the options to set the 4 outputs, shift light and rev counter etc, and adjust the RPM, but it wont actualy hold the revs. I clicked on WRITE IGNITION CONFIGURATION i tried setting at 2000RPM, then COMMIT TO FLASH, and revving it up with the car out of gear and it revs right past the 2000RPM.
Am i going about it correctly?
I have stolen my parents computor and i need to get it back today, so a quick reply will be very much apprecialted! :D
Many thanks

The soft cut merely reduces advance to zero degrees. It is still able to rev past that, especially at lower revs. Power will be greatly reduced at the real rev limit, but it does not cut the spark completely. I really recommend the hard cut, it is cheap and works very well.

Watch your advance display as you get to your set limit, if it goes to zero, you've done it right.

That's what you call a joke you don't get right away, a "way homer", because that's when you get it!
