Just finally got round to connecting the mjlj on the bench to load a map i got as i dont have a laptop available anymore to had to do it on the computer desk.
As the mjlj is map based an not tps based and was bought new built up, i would assume i'm not going to have any probelms with it? but the 1st thing i noticed was the load monitor was sitting on max and the max on the gauge reads 105kpa surly this cant be rite? then reading on here some where it says you can test that part of the unit on the screen by applying a vacuum to the unit when i do the pointer goes down to about 90kpa when i was sucking on a rubber tube applied to the end of the map conection point so its like the gauge on the screen is running in reverse!! when we connected the unit to the car it runs like a bag of hammers (zetec on 40's) runs on 3 and miss firing as soon as i take the fuse out of the power circuit for the megajolt it runs the static 10deg the mis firing is cured and runs as it did with the esc module fitted.
Getting my hands on a laptop this weekend so all being well i can get the config software on it and take a look to see what its doing when connected.

The gauge will read approx 100kPa on the bench as this is what atmospheric pressure is normally. When you suck on the map sensor, you are creating a vacuum thereby reducing the pressure seen by the sensor, so yours sounds to be working correctly.
105kPa is a bit high though- you must have excellent weather where you are!
For what its worth (and i know all engines are different) My rover 3.5 idles at 35-40kPa and cruises at between 55-65kPa. When i lift off from high revs the manifold pressure can drop to around 10kPa.

I get about the same as quagmire's too. I doubt you will get that sort of 10-30 KPa reading to be honest unless it was on lift off at high egine speed. Just so your not disappointed and think there is something wrong with your engine.

well we got engine running with lap-top connected and it ticks over with about 28-32 KPA so pretty much what i was told however when on the drive there is little load so found it would at worst get up to about 40 KPA but again if i disconnect the vacuum pipe it rockets upto 102KPA or just under so must be good weatherwhere we are

well finally got the lend of some trade plates and took said vehicle out and about in the end it ticks over around the 30-35kpa area then when out and about under load we managed to get the load up to 95kpa so have adjusted the bins to suit now and we can use almost the full map still a few areas we need to get the engine to use but trying to find a road with sufficient incline over a long enough distance to give us what we need but we are getting there.
