Shielded cable for coil and tps?

Post by Prey »

In my head this sounds like a silly question but I'll ask it anyway...

On the coil and tps wiring, could I use a shielded cable and use the shielding for the ground? Ie on the tps run the shielded pair for the vref and signal and use the shielding itself for the ground or would this be too much for the cable shielding to deal with? (particularly on the coil wiring?)

Thanks in advance!

Hi- No shielded cable is required for those parts of the circuit. The coil drive wiring especially does not require a shield.

Hope this helps!

This is why it's a silly question! I know the coil wiring does not need to be shielded - but my question is that instead of running the three wires to the coil and having to tape or wrap them, could I use the shielded wire and use the shielding itself as the ground wire? basically just to make the wiring look more factory and tidier? Not sure if I even make sense!

I see.

So the center tap on the coil is actually a +12V feed, not ground. That's probably what caused my slight confusion :)
