Installation with no alternator

Post by gomidget »

I have a friend with a mini engined motorkhana special (like an autograss car but front wheel drive) who wants to run Megajolt.
He does not run an alternator and runs total loss on points.

My question is, does anyone know what the total power consumption of the entire Megajolt system is?
My ammeter is on loan at the moment (must get that back...:? ) so I can't measure my own system.

I assume that if he can run total loss on points over a weekend that MJ should work as well..........

Any advice welcomed.
Cheers,
Brant

POWER

Go to the OPERATION section, BATTERY CURRENT FOR EDIS April 2010. The EDIS uses electronic dwell control, so it only takes the current needed to charge the coil(s) each revolution. Current increases with rpm, of course. Much more efficient than a points system, that burns up extra power in a ballast resistor.
