I am running a Nissan V6 in the Chump car races,
I put in the Autosport safe map and it worked very well!
I think the MJLJ is very cool, but I have a large amount to learn about the set ups.
I also have a little over a week before our next race.
We ran an open track day at yesterday at PIR and the car pulled very hard down the track.
The car pulled up to about 5000 and then leveled off like it had the red line set at 5000.
I would like to have the car pull hard to 6000.
Any input would be great and I am more than willing to read articals that you may feel is good to help me understand
Thanks!
understanding the MAPS or lack of understanding the naps

Mapping
You can keep the default map and do an altered copy for the second config. If the trial map didn't work for some reason, you just switch to the default, which is your safety net...
OK, on the second copy...reset the max rpms to 6000 as you need and keep whatever the maximum advance is. Just continue it up to 6000rpms. If it works as planned, next step would be to add a few degrees advance. Best err on the side of conservitive.
Small steps is best if you do not do a dyno run. Fuel, altitude, car weight, compression, air flow will all change your exact specs. So there is no generic V6 map for max horsepower.
When I crewed for the salleen team, we used a similar system. It did fuel, ignition, ABS, and traction control. We had a team engineer and engine builder ......even then they were sometimes stumped.

Mapping for road racing
I wanted to report back on the chump car race in Spokane.
You can see some of the in-car video here if you intrested
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNPS7jxL ... re=channel.
We lost the tranny just after dark.
You can see a picture of the datsun 510 with the VG30 here.

Race2 is the map we ran during the race.
I would like to be able to get more out of the motor and agree with Oldgingo to take small steps.
I want to get the program and the holley 2300 close then take the car to the dyno.
The MJLJ worked very well and I am very happy with it.
I would be intrested in any input to make my race map better.
Next race could be in the rain, has anyone ever done a wet map to help with traction control?
Thanks

mapping for roadracing
Thanks Humpty, the car is very much a treat!
The Dime was my youngest Daughters car that has major rust issues. I restored a Dime for her and I got this one back in trade.
When my Brother-in-law and I heard about the Chump Car series the question was asked what should we run…….. well the rest is history.
I am working on Video from last weekends race at Portland.
I will post a link here.
Can’t say enough about Autosport Labs and their products.
