Rev counter escort mk4

Post by javierant3 »

Hello, I am considering the installation of a megajolt into my escort mk4 1.6 cvh. My car has actually the lucas distributor and coil. The rev counter is connected to the -ve coil.

Will my rev counter work with the tacho out of the megajolt? Anyone has any information? If I connect the tacho to -ve of one coil I assume it will show half of the rpm.
Maybe I only need the tacho driver ready assembled trigger-wheels sell, but as I have seen cases of people not having good results I don`t know what to do.

Thanks to all and regards.

Yes, by the sounds of it you will need a tacho driver to run your rev counter properly.

There are several options for a tacho output which are free to try.

1. One is the tacho output of the Megajolt unit itself.

2. Another is pin 11 of the EDIS module CTO (Clean Tacho Out put) and

3. Failing that you could use the PIP signal from the EDIS unit.

Thanks for the responses. I`ll try with pin 11 in the edis and megajolt tacho output. If not I can always make the circuit with the 1N4004 and the zener and try it.
