not sure what to do now?

Post by blister »

hey,

got a few questions i was after saving the map onto he megajolt today but i plugged the jolt in etc with the wires i bought from autosport and i got a usb converter from my local pound land, i allocated the port to my usb com4

but now i am stuck i cannot download the file onto the jolt as i do not know how as the button on the mapping software is grey! and i have got a cylinder counter error down the bottom,

engine is a 1275cc mg metro with a suck through supercharged engine which am i right in thinking should still be marked as a NA engine

you have a serial comms issue, check all the basics - did you select the port in the mj software etc. ?

no, it's still going to see positive pressure in the manifold, you want to mark it as forced induction. Just to clarify, if you're using a MAP sensor, it should be connected to the engine side of the supercharger, not the carb side

yeah i checked the com port and i put it to port 4, which is what i have it plugged into now i dont know why it isnt working am i right in thinking that the megajolt can just have the postive and negative connected and i will be able to put a map on it?

and yep i have put the manifold take off after the charger,

Hi Blister

Yes, you can change/alter the map and other options in the software by just connecting a 9V battery (or similar power soure) to the megajolt. I use a 9V battery for testing for over a year now and its still working as a test power source.

well theres nothing happening still i have upgraded the drivers on windows for it! and am i right in thinking that the green lights on the software should light up!,

also am i right in thinking that the software has to match the firmware that is on the board! how do i check,

also the knew thing that is coming up on the megajolt software is time out reading cylinder count!

Hi,

Sorry it's not working for you right out of the box.

You might want to revisit this part of the operation guide to make absolutely sure you have the COM port set on your USB-Serial adapter. Sometimes Windows will assign it's own number despite what you might've 'told' it to do.

http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V4_Op ... erial_Port

Once you've verified what windows has it set to, make sure the configuration software matches it. And also make sure you have power to the Megajolt while testing on the bench (green LED lit up).

If you still have problems, you might want to test with a different PC, perhaps one with a built in serial port - like a desktop computer. This would be primarily a debugging test to identify any compatibility issues with the USB-Serial adapter you're currently using.

Let us know what you find out!
