Well, after getting my MJLJ working fine with my laptop after all my problems beforehand (see my other posts!) I finally got it wired up to the EDIS module.
The problem I had initially is that the vehicle hasn't been started for a while so took a lot of cranking - since this took a massive load off the batteries (it's a 24V truck) there wasn't enough power left to operate the voltage dropper (which in turn powers the EDIS/MJLJ/coilpack). I had a spark tester light in plug 1 and there was nothing - bear in mind I have had it running on EDIS alone before now.
Anyway, off to the garage to fetch my big 12V leisure battery. Connected everything up to that and after a bit of initial spluttering (it's an old engine and doesn't like starting at the best of times) she fired up!
At this point, I had no vacuum connected so was only altering the advance by RPM which worked fine (although I noted that sucking into the tube caused a change so it's obviously working OK)
I then made up my connector for the vacuum system and hooked it all back up. My kPa readings are all over the place - very difficult to assess an average. I logged some of the data so I'll have a look at it but it's still better than having a distributor!!
First run!
