Waiting for MegaJolt/C to build a CoilOnPlug setup on my Corvair air-cooled-6.
Anyone have any idea how reliable the toyota coils as mentioned http://www.autosportlabs.org/blog/?p=1318 are? I'd hate to put it all together, only to find out they melt at operating temps, or heat-soak etc..
I think I have a solid idea for trigger-wheel operation for the harmonic damper (or in-distributor, since the oil-pump drive must stay intact) mounted trigger systems - some measurements to work out, still, but this could be quite nice.
Toyota CoilOnPlug unit thermal limitations..

Remote mounted coil will be fine. 911 guys use COP, so I don't think that will be a problem, do some research to see what coils they are using, I am unsure as to what is being used successfully. I do know it is done though.
I have a regular EDIS setup on an aircooled 4 VW, but will be doing COP on a twin-plug 911.
