How much Clearance is required for trigger wheel install

Post by keitho64 »

Hello

I started the installation of the EDIS / Megajolt on my 64 Corvair today. I was planning to use the ac / smog pulley and mount the trigger wheel to it. The teeth will extend beyond the pulley about 1/4". I am concerned that this may not be enough clearance for proper operation.

Do you know if there is a preferred distance that the teeth need to extend? Does this look like it would work or am I apt to get an errant signal since the teeth are so close to the pulley?

Thanks for the advice.

You'll be fine, I think. The sensor is detecting changes in magnetic strength (sort of) so having a constant background level with the pulley shouldn't affect it - I'm not sure if mine protrudes at all and it works fine.

Thank you for the feedback. I will go ahead with the installation and post the results.
