Crank Trigger Wheel

Post by Barry_D »

Hi All!

I thought I was speaking with someone who knew what I was describing at my local Ford dealer parts dept., but obviously not. I was sold and shipped a belt pulley! Does anyone know the Ford part # for a 1991 - 1996 1.9l Escort or Tracer engine Crank Trigger Wheel?

Trigger wheel

Post by Paratime »

I believe that the part you want is (supposedly) permanently attached to the harmonic balancer, sometimes called the dampener. Ordering this part should get you in business. In related news, I went to the local Pry it Off Yourself wrecking yard, and saw 4 of the EDIS Escorts with their parts still intact. However, I have been unable to locate a V8 donor car. :(

Trigger wheel

For UK 'Jolters Demon Tweeks do a trigger wheel for £25 and a pickup for the same.

Thats got to be easier than ripping dirty bits off of old Fords :-)

Trigger Wheel

Post by Barry_D »

Hello again Paratime,

For all who were wondering, Ford describes the crank trigger wheel as a (Crank Vibration Dampner Assembly). It is "not" cast as one piece to the damper so the trigger wheel can be removed from it. And its price new is roughly $76.00... Ouch!

Since I only need half of the assembly, it makes more sense to spend 45 minutes at my local salvage yard and pay $10.00!

semi permanent?

Post by Paratime »

Sorry, didn't meant to imply that the wheel IS permanently attached, just that Ford only sells it attached, and doesn't intend for it to be removed.

I believe this is the same as part # F2LE-12A227-BC

I ordered mine online from www.oemparts4u.com - it was $US14.05 plus $US6.95 shipping = $21.00 - on the main menu "SEARCH BY OEM PART #",enter F2LZ12A227BB and "FORD" from the pulldown menu

F2LZ12A227BB $17.56(list) $14.05(our price)
