permanent live to coil pack ok?

Just modifying an existing (Dunnell) loom for megajolt on a zetec.
Not saying its a good idea, but is there any reason why there shouldnt be a permant live to the coil pack (pin2)?
Obviously i would need a switched live to the EDIS / megajolt.

Its just that Mr Dunnell chose to directly connect the coil pack + pin to the battery so wondered if there was good reason.

My coil pack is switched through a relay to the ignition, another relay turns on Megajolt and EDIS. I don't know if it is right or wrong to leave it powered, but it might draw the battery down.

I would follow DannyP's advice and make it switched.
