Empty data files
I'm testing out Race Capture Pro for the first time and running into a problem where the log files that are generated are all filled with zeroes. I'm just using a basic installation with no sensors -- just the GPS receiver plugged into the GPS RJ-11 port. All three LEDs are lighting up correctly, and the red LED on the GPS is also flashing correctly. I did mount the unit turned 90 degrees to the side (still flat) because it fit better that way, figuring that at this stage I'm not too concerned about the accelerometer data yet, and even if it did mess up those data, at least the GPS should be working. Is this the problem? What else have I missed?
I can't find a .rcap file anywhere. Maybe that's the problem? Where should it be? Here's the rc_1.log file:

In RaceAnalyzer, go to File → Save Configuration As…. Make sure you read the configuration from RCP first, so it reflects how the device is actually configured.Dave_G wrote:I can't find a .rcap file anywhere. Maybe that's the problem? Where should it be?
Ok, that looks like the GPS hasn't gotten a lock, or RCP isn't able to talk to it. The GPS is plugged into the right-most RJ-11 port, right? The installation guide has that illustrated.Dave_G wrote: Here's the rc_1.log file:

OK, the unit is still in the race car, which is about half an hour away at the moment, so this part will need to wait a few days until I can get to it.blalor wrote:In RaceAnalyzer, go to File → Save Configuration As…. Yup, the right-most port (I labeled it because I knew there was a good chance I might get that part wrong. ). The Power LED is on, and LED1 flashes slowly at first, then quickly, at which time the red LED on the GPS starts flashing. This all led me to think that the GPS was working properly. When I push the button, LED2 starts flashing, but all that actually gets written is zeroes.blalor wrote:Ok, that looks like the GPS hasn't gotten a lock, or RCP isn't able to talk to it. Hi Dave,
You probably want to fetch it from your race car and bring it home so you can conveniently bench test it. Yes, when the GPS LED is flashing rapidly it should produce the file with actual GPS data in it.
What I recommend is to start with an empty SD card, then log again when you have a GPS lock, then check for the one file that should be written to the card.
Also, please check the firmware version by clicking help/about in RaceAnalyzer and report that back as well.
Thanks!
