Finally it is time to start my own topic overhere. I'm preparing a MegaJolt setup for my Citroën AX GT. Originally it has a 1.4 engine with monopoint injection, but 1.5 year ago, I have converted it to a 2-stage carburator setup. I have prepared a cilinder head for this conversion and the preps included flowing the in- and outlet, regrinding the valves, insert new valve seals and inserting a Kentcams 284 degrees camshaft. Also, for performance improvement, a spaghetti manifold has been placed and bigger nozzles in the carb and a K&N airfilter.

More then a year ago, I have bought my Megajolt computer and have assembled it. A few weeks ago I have prepared a triggerwheel and now I have to find back the sensor so I can place that also. Last week, my MSD parts have arrived. So for now I'm preparing all parts, the cable harnes and an initial ignition mapping. For my initial mapping I will use the data of the manufacturer.

Have you got any pictures of the carbs that you are going to be using and manifolds etc???

I'm using a Solex 32/34 Z2 carb. This is used on the first series of AX GT and was good for 85 HP. In the Netherlands, they introduced new regulations against polution so they replaced the carb very soon for monopoint injection and delivered 75 HP. So I converted mine back to a first series, with the carb. I took an original engine head of the first series, flowed the inlet and exhaust ports, inserted an Kentcams camshaft and bigger nozzles in the carb (delivered in the K&N kit) Maybe I am going to use a slighly bigger carb when I can find it. In the time, the Citroën BX 1.9 has been deliverd with a Solex 34/34. So if I can find one, I might going to experiment with it.

Brings back fond memories of mine the power jump you get on the axgt just by fitting the k&n filter is outstanding was very noticeable once the second choke opened. mine was a black one on a 1990 MY so would have been the early type you were refering to even had the 3 stud alloys too. 8)

After a long time I finally found some time to work on the installation of the triggerwheel and the sensor. Laying under the car I have placed the triggerwheel on the pulley that drives the alternator. This pulley is directly placed on the crankshaft.

I also have build a bracket that places the sensor close to the triggerwheel. Why do those Citroen AX have so less space. Driveshaft is getting close to the wires and it just fits with the cooling hose. But, it is on it's place.

Now it's time to put a new and longer cable on the connection and wire it all up. Hopefully I can find some more time in the next few weeks to finish the installation.

Yeaahaaaaaahhhhh!!! It is running!!!

The conversion to Megajolt has succeeded. Now I have to assemble it al in the right way. I also have to check with an ignition light if the Megajolt is controlling it correctly or if the Edi module is running in limb-home mode. Ofcourse I have to create a correct mapping. But now it is time to have a cold drink.

Today I have been to a specialist to fine tune my setup on a rolling road. First run delivered 94,5 hp and 126,2 nm. Then I noticed that it was using the wrong mapping so switched to the correct one. Time for a new run, results: 98,5 hp and 132,6 nm :) The specialist thought that it was already tuned enough and he advised to leave it this way :) I'm happy with the values and the car is running great.

hi pal how much did the megajolt and all the msd stuff with the trigger wheel etc cost alltogether? thinking of doing something similar! plus how much power/torque would it have on the standard dizzy with the cam manifold carb jets etc? 8)

Standard engine delivers 84 hp@6400 rpm and 115 nm@4000rpm. With all modifications it now delivers 98,5 hp@6000rpm and 132,6 nm 4250rpm.

The modifications to the engine are:
- Kentcams camshaft 284 degrees
- Flowed inlet and outlet ports in the cilinderhead
- Raceland 4-2-1 exhaust manifolt
- K&N RC-9150 kit (bigger nozzle for carb and the airfilter)
- Megajolt Ignition with MSD components

The current mapping gives the blue line, the red line is with the mapping that's delivered default with the Megajolt. Difference is about 4 hp and 6,5 nm.

Used parts for ignition
- Megajolt, self assembled (147 us dollar)
- 36-1 triggerwheel (35 euro)
- MSD Coilpack & ignition leads (125 euro)
- EDIS module, with sensor, coil pack (not used) (60 euro)
- some cabling (35 euro)

thats a huge help! dont think ill bother with the ignition timing gear tho, but will definitely be getting a 284 degree cam and madifying a weber dgv carb to fit........ should give some good reults! :D

Time to wipe off some dust 8)

The car is still running great, but it's time for some improvement. For the next stage I will use:
- cilinderhead of a Peugeot 106 Rallye which has biggen valves and biggen in- and outlets
- Catcams 4900645 camshaft, 280°/280° - 244°/244° - 11.25mm/11.25mm - 2.65mm/2.65mm

Or as described on the website of Kamracing:
The Cat Cams 4900645 is an excellent rally spec cam for use with either Carbs/Throttle Bodies or the Peugeot 106 Rallye Aluminuim Inlet manifold. The 4900645 will give a lumpy idle and possible emissions problems. Power Band for this rally profile is between 3-7500rpm with very good torque.
- 4 single 37 mm carburators. Normale used on a Yamaha R6 motorbike. Fitted with a custos Boggbross inlet manifold
