Brake pressure sensors

Hi,
Has anyone found a cost effective brake pressure sensor to use?

i'd like to analyse where I'm hitting the brakes and how hard. I can find hydraulic switches (on/off) for brake lights but the proper pressure sensors for this kind of application seem to be about £150 in the UK - a bit more than I want to spend (all right, a lot more!)

I have seen second hand ABS brake pressure sensors for various vehicles ranging from £15 - £50, I did ask the question of one of them regarding pin outs etc and was just told it has three pins - not much help!

Ay ideas/advice much appreciated.

You can also look to the DSC sensor from BMW. I had mine for 30€ (0-250bars).

Agreed these look really great!

I did buy a used Merc sensor (used on the A class ABS) but I haven't got any pin out info so will play around but may scrap that idea!

As best I an tell these are a drop in replacement for the Autometer 2240 pressure senders. They definitely have the same 3 pin connectors and pinouts. I have the 0-100psi versions (equivalent to Autometer 2246) in use at the moment to monitor fuel and oil pressures.

One of my winter projects is to hook up 2 of these to monitor front and rear brake pressures.

I have one of those as my oil pressure gauge. It seems to be working well after a month of use but I have not calibrated against a known good sensor to verify it's accuracy. You can't beat the price tho.

Awesome great to know. I am not sure I will be able to verify or calibrate either but I really just need to know when I hit the brake and how hard so I can compare to my co drivers so even if the data is a little off it shouldn't matter for my use.
