Zener Diode Backordered at Digikey - 6/11/2004!

Post by sgraber »

So I just ordered all my parts and apparently the Zener (1N4742AMSCT-ND ZENER DIODE 12V 5% 1.0W DO-41) is on Back order and not due in until mid-june... Does someone have an extra one they are willing to sell me? Or is this something I can find locally? ie Radio Shack?

Hi Ron,

Yours and many others are scheduled to go out early next week. Due to a production problem at the PCB manufacturer I only received a partial order last week- the rest of my order should arrive Monday.

So you'll get your order soon- thanks for your patience :)

Zener Diode

Post by Barry_D »

I faced the same problem when I ordered my parts list from Digikey. So I bought mine from my local Radio Shack. Its part# is 276-563. It's a two-pack, sells for .99, and has these specs:
1NT4742A, 12 Volt, current-21mA, Max power dissipation=1.0w.

Does this Radio Shack Zener Diode meet the spec?

Hello Paratime,

My local Radio Shack is in Little Rock, AR, but anyone across the nation can buy the same diode pack at their local Radio Shack. I'm guessing you're not here in the states huh? If that's true then obviously a web buy is the way to go.

From the specs I had to compare to I'm assuming I bought a compatible Zener Diode at Radio Shack didn't I?

Barry,

Yep, the radio shack part you purchased should work just fine.

Thanks,
Brent

Barry,

I went to the RadioShack on Cantrell Rd looking for one - they were out of stock until Friday -have you cornered the market in Little Rock?!

Also, Brent - as you mentioned in another post the problem is that the diode shipped by Digikey has the thicker leads - do you know any way of ordering one with thinner leads?
Thanks,
Iain Cameron

That's great! Thank you very much for the info. My digi-key order arrived, Brent's board and chip appear to be in the mail, and I have a nice Radio Shack just around the corner. Perfect!

I also meant to say- thanks Kendall for the kind offer, but I'll hit R.S. on the way home tonite! :-)
