Lost Spark

Post by lastofthev8s »

I have a Megajolt lite junior kit on my MK2 Scirocco, I first drove the car with this system 5 years ago trouble free. I've had it back on the road for a month with the same system but gone from an 8v to a 16v engine (both fitted with the same twin 45 Webers). Today I drove about 160 miles, all was fine until my last 20 miles heading back home, it started spluttering and back firing under load near 6000rpm for a couple of miles, then when booting it up to similar rpm it let out one last big backfire and died, so I pulled over and found I had no spark.
I got my Dad to bring me out a new coilpack but that didn't solve the problem, is it possible that EDIS ignition module has failed?
I should also mention, I had my exhaust sorted out today (hence the 160 mile round trip) and I'm sure that when they were tacking some pieces together on the car they didn't have a battery saver on it, they definitely didn't disconnect the battery anyway. When the car fired up and ran no problem I just shrugged it off, now I'm not sure if something has been damaged or it's just coincidence. :(

Sorted. It was a broken wire on the crank sensor.
