Here are two maps that have very little hard testing time. The difference between the two is subtle. They have been run for a bit now and are way better than the distributor already. The warm up time is very quick compared to the distributor setup because of the available temperature compensation. I have yet to really dial in a final. Any progress I make on the map will be added here.

So I felt like I needed to pull the timing back a little bit. Pushed the car a little harder on the last go around and seemed to get a little more out of it. Still not quite perfect yet.

The engine seems to like this a lot. I'm sure it's no where near perfect but there is no ping and it makes more torque in first gear than the tires (tire) can handle.

I looked over your build thread but it wasn't clear.. What is your current displacement and compression? I have a similar 460 with 10.5:1 . I can't believe your initial timing works at anything above 16 degrees without detonation. Have your verified your base timing of 10 degrees in limp mode ? Also what is your cranking timing set to ?

Sorry about that, I guess it wasn't very clear now that I went back and looked at it.
It's stock 1974 460 longblock (D3VE) except cam has been advanced from stock to put it's timing where it was in the late 1960's. Carb is holley 750 vac secondary. I think Ford had spec'd compression in the 70's at something like 7.5:1 - 8:1.
I will look at the setup again. I know my timing wheel is dialed in on point. The only place I might have been getting a hint of detonation was part throttle from 2000 to 3500 and might have backed a bit off since the last update. If I have backed off on that 20's WOT timing, it was purely to make more power and not because of detonation.
When I get a chance I will put the latest revision up and you can have a look at that.

OK, well with that compression your total is probably right on, and I guess that explains why your initial timing works. I had a 9.0:1 compression 429 that would run 14 initial and around 38 total. My current motor requires a lot less timing. I may use your light throttle values for a starting place. I don't know of a better way to tune those than by drivability.
