RaceCapture/Pro CAN/OBD-II & WiFI

Post by habeb »

Currently comparing the solution to AIM Solo/DL with SmartyCAM HD and RaceLogic's VBOX HD2. The progress being made with the RaceCapure application and supporting HW caught my attention.

Considering purchasing the RaceCapture/Pro CAN/OBD-II w/ WiFI and noticed the WiFi configuration in RaceCapture app. Is my understanding correct in that the WiFi module can act as an AP and Client simultaneously? If so, that would imply the WiFI module is operating both radios. Judging from the configuration, the AP side appears to be using the 2.4ghz and suspect the client is 5ghz. Is this configuration fixed? If configurable (WiFi Client on 2.4 and 5ghz) , this would offer the possibility to control 2 cameras simultaneously, something other vendors reliant of WiFi are challenged with, due to the single network access of their WiFi.

RaceCapture's WiFi can operate in both client and access point mode, correct. you can enable either independently. See the configuration options in the RaceCapture app.

The future GoPro support will allow cameras to be controlled by RaceCapture connecting to the GoPro camera's access point. We are also looking at multi-camera supprt.

Hope this helps,
