map range related to manifold vacuum

Post by microx »

I have a 2.1L pinto big valve head fast road cam and 2 x Dellorto 40-s. Megajolt junior lite with MAP sensor. I have manifold vacuum reading of 10-12 on a known good separate vacuum guage which seems low to me. There are no leaks and the reading is the same on all four rails. My experience with single carb engines was tickover vacuum reading of 18-20.
My question is with this low vacuum reading am I getting the advance I should get at tickover or does the kpa scale need changing. Steve

Not sure if that map reading is appropriate for your engine, but you can always tune around that range of the ignition map. Lots of time are spent optimizing the cranking and idling region of an ignition map!

Let us know what you end up doing.
