Pull-up jumpers

Post by petik »

Just got my analogx recently and i'm wiring up an oil temp gauge. Looks like there are pads on the back of the pcb to solder down a 2.2k. What I wanted to clarify is how the wiring should look like at this point if the 2.2k is on board. Does that mean that I only connect the ground and the input and skip wiring in the 5V (since it is internally pulled up? Also, what size SMD resistor is recommended (i.e. - 0604)?

Hi,

Those pads are for jumpering to enable a 2.2K pull-up resistor that is already on-board. You do not need to solder a 2.2K resistor in that place.

Normally the jumper is open; to enable the resistor, solder across the joint.

Also please make note of the possible limitations using thermistor-based (non linear) sensors here:

Thanks Brent. I'm hooking up oil temp so i'm reasonably happy with just having accuracy at >200F.

Makes sense. Glad that will work for you!
