Change dashboard view with ShiftX2 button?

Post by turbogrill »

Hi,

Is it possible to change the app dashboard view to a different one from the button?

Let say I have the laptime view and want to change to 8x gauge view.
The laptimer view will be the default but if there is a warning light it makes sense to easy change to a gauge view.

We will be supporting this in an upcoming firmware and app release. Thanks!

@brentp was this added in the latest release? Is there documentation of these functions. I'd like to put buttons on my steering wheel to change display and respond to questions. I'll use a microcontroller to send can messages when buttons are pressed.

Hi,

Yes - the information is here:
https://www.autosportlabs.com/racecaptu ... -and-more/

The system listens for the button notification CAN messages; see the CAN API for ShiftX2 or ShiftX3 for that information.

Hope this helps!

I see they both can publish button events at Base+60 address. How does the api work for two buttons?

Would there be a way for me to enable this functionality with the alternate base address? I have a shiftx2 and would like to repurpose the button on it for something else. Is the button -> navigation events functionality disabled or enabled by default?

Hi,

it's in the docs for ShiftX3. See "button ID" - the ID of the button indicates which button is pressed.
