I've had a hard time getting used to the Racecapture App and it has really stifled my use of the power of this data logger. It's nice that TrackAttack imports the files so I can make some use of them, but you can only use basic data analysis if you don't pay the subscription, so I'm trying to figure out the race capture issues I've had so I can finally truly use this loggers capabilities.
I love the logger and the whole idea of the company so don't take this wrong, I just need to be able to make use of the data that has cost me a lot of time and money to collect and I don't feel like I have a good way to do that right now. If TrackAttack was a one-time cost I would have begrudgingly bought it by now, but I just can't justify paying a subscription for a software that does what the one that came with my logger is supposed to do. (and TrackAttack is really only the bare minimum functionality of an analysis software anyhow)
My mk4 logger is on 2.20.0 firmware
Time Gap Stepped lines
This is the biggest problem. The time gap chart is stepped and is typically off by some amount (as noticed as the time gap at the end of the lap compared to the delta lap time).
You can see in this screenshot that my 'elapsed time' column is 4 digits which appears to create the step. I couldn't find a setting for changing the elapsed time resolution/digits, am I correct that I have an issue there?
Import Time
I have shock position data being logged at 1000Hz which makes my files relatively large I guess (60-120kb), but the import time would have you guessing its GBs. Even after import its very slow when checking and unchecking laps to display them. The same file imported to TrackAttack is near instant.
Color of plots
It seems the plot line colors have a default order for within sessions? So two laps from two different sessions have the same color when I'm unlucky (and I'm pretty sure I've also had this from 2 laps within the same session). Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I can't figure out how to change the plot color when that happens
Time Gap Reference Lap
If I unselect the lap that was the reference lap for time gap, I have to unselect all and reselect what I want as reference lap, or else reference lap is not left as the straight line (compares to old reference lap?)
Value display
When using a touchscreen on a line chart the text that is the value at the cursor's position is under your finger so you can't read it.
Default Time/Dist
I typically look at data in the distance domain, but when looking at various laps, importing, etc it will switch a plot or two to time domain (but not all of them), so then the cursor isn't in sync and again makes me question all info.
Anytime I try to close the app on Windows it just freezes and I have to kill the task (may be related to the large files).
Biggest issue I'm looking for a solution for right now is the stepped time gap plot/elapsed time, the rest are really just nuisances/complaints.
Thanks
Time Gap and other issues
Re: Time Gap and other issues
Hi, thanks for the note. We are working on a number of analysis features an improvements, so this is something we definitely care about.
For the stepped time gap, I'm assuming you mean the jagged lines you see in the trace?
Would we be able to get a copy of your data log to check it out and reproduce the issue?
