HT Leads - Vx/Opel 20XE

Post by quinnynw64 »

What HT leads are people using on the XE? Are you using Ford ones with the Beru Vx plug cap fitted, Vx ones with Ford coil pack ends or custom sets? Anyone know of any reasonable custom set manufacturers in the UK?
Thanks

Xe Leads

Post by andy323 »

I've just installed the MJLJ on an XE powered Mk1 Starlet Hot Rod. I used a Vauxhall coil pack as found bolted to the end of Cav & Calibra XEs. Pinout is the same as the Ford one and you don't need special leads.

Worked a treat straight away. I just need to get my head around mapping it. I've started from a basic XE map but this car uses twin 48s and standard cams. Yuk!

I used a Ford coil pack and got a set of leads made by Magnecor. Didn't fancy experimenting with a Vx coil pack but if it works that'd be the best way.

I used the xe leads and swapped the ford lead connectors on them to fit the ford coil.
