To work with the EDIS
To work with the EDIS module, the flywheel must have the equivalent of the 36-1 pattern. it might be possible to modify your flywheel to have the correct pattern, by drilling additional holes, or having the existing holes closed up by welding.
Could you point us to a picture of this flywheel?

CVH flywheel
Hello,
I have a ford cvh fitted with twin carbs (will be when its finished).
It has a flywheel from a late model cvh which used electronic ignition (I've been told it's DIS not EDIS not sure of this though).
The flywheel has holes in the back (more like indentations)in an almost complete circle, with one hole missing.
The block has a mounting place with a vr sensor, that points at these holes on the flywheel.
The sensor is mounted 90 degrees before TDC.
I guess this is the equlivent of a trigger wheel with a tooth missing. There is something like 8 or 10 of these holes on the back of the flywheel (I can't be sure because I dont have it to hand, but its not anything like 36).
What I would like to know is;
Can I use MegaJolt to run the ignition but use the flywheel instead of a toothed trigger wheel?

No ignition parts
I don't actually have any of the ignition system apart from the coil pack.
The engine was bought from a scraped car to be rebuilt for more power.
I bought the engine with no loom or ignition parts (I got the VR sensor but not the cable that goes with it).
The bloke I bought it off even said;
"do you want any thing else from the car"?
Maybe next time I'll know what I'm doing.

I found it interesting that the EDIS module has a 'bleed-down', or graceful shutdown feature if it looses signal from the sensor.

Looks like I've been a complete retard.
The pattern on the back of the flywheel is 36-1, so this should work fine with the MJLJ.

Yes, I agree. That pattern should work fine. The 'rib' section of the pattern would be the equivalent of a trigger wheel tooth.

I can only see whats on with the flywheel etc when I'm at home'
Looks like I'll be getin' a MJLJ with a TPS (twin carbs).
The excahnge rate is pretty good at the mo as well.(I'm in the U.K)

Its a late CVH from an escort, carb with mapped ignition.

- I know the 1.8l seirra apprently had a suitable wheel on the front pulley, so may get one of those if i can.

The flywheel pictured above is an EFI flywheel.
You should find them on the likes of the Mk3 CVH EFi Fiesta.
Carb'd CVH engines won't have them. Certainly the likes of the Mk2 Fiesta.
You 'could' also use the one from the 1.6 or 1.8 Zetec. As these also have the Crank Position sensor holes in the back of the flywheel.
