more EDIS part numbers

Post by adam912 »

Hi all- I'm working on a setup for my '66 Porsche 912 with a 2.2 liter Type 4 motor. I've scrounged all the Ford EDIS4 parts from a junkyard or the local pull-em lot. The crank position sensor was bad so I called around and found the identical part at the local Schuck's FLAPS. Part numbers as follows, for those interested: Ford 4 cylinder part: FOEE-6C315-A2B, dealer told me this is superseded by 1S4Z-6C315-AB. The Schucks part is made by Niehoff, P/N FF440A. They even had one in stock! $19.95.

When you go to pull a timing gear at the junkyard, you will find that the gear on a manual trans car is a real pain to deal with. It lives on the back of the crank pulley. Rather than being a simple flat gear, it has a big cup arrangement molded to it that is bonded to the inside of the pulley itself. In order to get the nice flat gear that you see in pictures, you will need to cut this cup arrangement off. I used a cutoff wheel then had the guy who machined it to fit my crank hub clean it up while he had it chucked up in the lathe.

Fits beautifully behind the fan on a Type 4 VW.

cheers
