Serial Port for LapTop

I have successfully adapted a USB to Serial port adapter for the MJLJ. I used a Sabrent SBT-USC1K from NewEgg

I am running a P4 laptop with XP Pro SP2. After plugging in the adapter and loading the drivers, the Com port wasn't detected by the MJLJ software. I checked the Device Manager for serial ports, and for some reason, it was installed as Com 4. I reset the MJLJ for Com 4, and the system read and programmed perfectly.

Pt 2:

The MJLJ Tuning software would not download as a .jar, only as a .zip, even if selected "Save Target As..."

I downloaded this file previously onto my desktop without a problem. It may be an XP SP2 issue.

It must be downloaded into a directory, and the file extension changed manually to .jar . If a note to this effect could be added to the Software page, it would greatly reduce the aggravation for others.
