OK - I'm not very computer literate and all this talk of flashing chips, Bootloaders, firmware etc is putting me off a bit.
If I was to buy a ready built unit, which bits of software would I need to dowload, and what difficulties am I likely to encounter?
Is the chip in a ready built MJLJ already flashed? Will I still need the Bootloader?
Cheers,
AL.
What would I need to download

Don't be put off. I am a comp
Don't be put off. I am a complete idiot when it comes to computer stuff and I have hacked my way thru this. The insructions and troubleshooting is getting better all the time on this site.
If you buy a ready built unit from Brent you should be ready to program. You will not need to fool with the "bootloader firmware" stuff. You will need to download the "configurator" wich is how you program the spark curve and auxillary outputs.
You should ask if your built unit will come with the newer "beta version" of the interpolation software though. This is a worthwhile upgrade and does require the use of the "bootloader" stuff. And actually the bootloader thing is not as difficult as it sounds either.
Answers on this board can seem a little slow but it seems like there is usually someone here to help with questions along the way.
