EDIS-less system?

Post by blart »

Now that Megsaquirt is available with its own coil drivers which removes the need to use the EDIS system, is there going to be any development for Megajolt to go EDIS-less and use its own coil drivers?

Thanks

It's something I've thought

It's something I've thought of; possibly for a V4 or 5. There are many other features to do in the mean time. Fortunately, these features will naturally fold into newer versions of the MJLJ.

It has a coil driver

It has a coil driver alright, but you still need a distributor in order to make it work. MSII also allows you to use EDIS, (D is for distributorless). There are advantages for using spark and fuel in one system, for example you can retard and cut fuel for traction control.

I solicited brent many times to make a better and more powerful megajolt. Features I want are knock sensing, rapid acceleration, ECT/ACT, gear position reading, and inputs and outputs for traction control and communicating with MSII (for traction and launch control).

The way I imagine an ideal megajolt is having it in the largest box from heager. It would have a separate board for knock sensing, megajolt and coil drivers. It would have up to 12 coil drivers, for 12 coils. Yet it would have ability to run 1 coil (which would go to distributor), 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 coils. He'd have to use expensive transistors for that, and possibly this array would have to go on a heat think outside of the unit, and where no driver is needed a diode could be used for flyback. These will have the ability to run a single coil per cylinder, or like right now, single coil per two cylinders. Also the support for multi spark. And of course negative timing (white house intends to add methanol to the fuel). Just imagine connecting your megajolt to coil driver grid using a cable, sounds pretty cool.

Once I release a full version of my Megajolt Lite Jr Tuner, I can possibly implement rapid acceleration. After that, the processor is useless, not enough memory space. Ideally the new processor should be twice faster than the first intended use with all the features, and perhaps even a separate processor for knock sensing and communication for real time data acquisition.

Basically, I'm trying to encourage brent (and I hope you all do too) to take a good look at the world's best ignition control and make one better than that one.

I know he said there is a lot of features that yet have to be implemented. There is only one that will fit into the current hardware, rapid acceleration. So right about now is the time to make a new megajolt. And I suggest you just make hardware, programmers will come to make firmware, especially if the new one is powerfull enough to run code compiled in a higher level language.

As I've said before,

As I've said before, suggestions are always welcome.

The current hardware hasn't reached it's full potential yet, so in order to not abandon hundreds of existing MJLJ users, new features on the existing hardware will remain a priority for me.

What new features do you

What new features do you have in mind for the current hardware?
