TPS Bin question....

Post by Jenko »

Hi,

How do I decide on the bin numbering for the TPS?...

My TPS range is from 4.5k (throttle closed), to 1.5k (throttle fully open) ...but every map I see has numbers between say 20 and 130 (for example)......

Thanks.

Paul.

Are you using a V3 board with the latest software? You should be able to calibrat your TPS like this -

I currently have the V3 software installed so it looks like I need to upgrade to V3.1...I do have a V3 board though :-)

On this subject...I had a quick look...do you know where the 3.1 software down load is?...

Thanks.

TPS Load Bins

Post by DJRowland »

A question of clarification really. Just installed a V3 board with 3.1 firmwire and Config software on a Pinto 2 ltre engine. All worked very well first time out and engine runs no problem!! I ran the TPS calibration option which worked ok and got a good indication of TPS working from 0 to 100%. Having run the calibration I set my load bins as 0, 10, 20, 30 etc? Have I done the right thing?

Many thanks

David

Hi, Thanks for testing the 3.1 firmware!

Bins spaced evenly can be fine to start with, then you can fine tune them later. If you want to make one region more coarsely spaced, it will give you finer control over another region. It's basically your choice when it comes to tuning.

Hi Brent,

So based on this.....should I use the download the 3.1Firmware, and use the V3.1 Config with my V3 board???.....

Or

Just stick to V3 software allround...

Thanks.

Anyone who has a TPS based MJLJ should really consider the 3.1 firmware as it lets you correctly calibrate the TPS to read 0 - 100% throttle, which can be matched to your Ignition Map.

So yes, you should certainly consider upgrading to the 3.1 firmware. It's still 'beta' but it's been tested quite a bit by others, and also has a number of bug fixes / improvements.
