Test stand up and running!

I got all the pieces Saturday. I spent this morning making up a test bench. I have successfully run the Ford EDIS system standalone today, making spark on all 4 plugs!! Tomorrow, I will be attaching my finished MJLJ to this setup and verify timing changes based on RPM. I will also attempt to connect my backup tach to see if I will need the diode circuit too. I was so happy to see sparks and to verify the 10 degrees advance, just thought I would post.

Hi Tony

Just looked at your website. Is it the Type 4 engine your fitted the EDIS to? my reason for asking is I’m doing the same, only diff is mine is in a VW Type 2 Camper. How are you fitted the Toothed ring? Not show how much room I've go as my van is away at a body shop at the moment.

Yes, that's a type 4 and that's the motor I am building this for. I am using an a/c pulley that fit between the fan and the crank. I will have it milled down a bit to fit inside the Escort trigger wheel. The pulley has a hole in it for locating. This makes it easy to remove and replace without alignment worries. BTW, there is plenty of room towards the oil cooler side of the engine for mounting the sensor and having full access to the trigger wheel.

Living in the UK I've never seen a type 4 engine with AC but sounds interesting. Is the AC pulley easy to get hold of?
