I'm new to all of this but have a basic understanding of how MJL works, what I wanted to find out though was whether TPS would be the best sensor to use on a car fitted with a 2.0 16v Vauxhall engine running on CBR600 bike carburettors? I say TPS because the carbs already have one fitted, but I wanted to make sure it would be better than MAP before I order a kit and then find out afterwards that TPS sensors aren't very good etc...

Hi Christian - welcome to the board....
Definitely TPS - you won't (easily) get a good average vacuum from bike carbs.
The TPS fitted to the carbs should be fine to wire straight into the MJLJ.
Sounds a very interesting engine configuration - will be keen to hear how you get on and to see some pictures
... I don't know much/anything about bike carbs, so can you explain why/how a set of carbs for a 600cc bike engine provide sufficient fuel and/or air for a 2000cc red top? Is it just that a 600cc bike at n'ty thousand rpm needs the same amount of both as a red top at 7000rpm?

I'm no expert on bike carbs but have been assured that correctly jetted to suit a 2.0 engine (a significant increase in jet size over standard) they will easily fuel a 2.0 engine. I presume its as you say, on a bike they are worked much harder having to fuel up to double the RPM of a car engine. Although to be honest, I haven't yet had them running so cant confirm how well they work.

TPS is definately where its at with bike carbs (esp as they already have one fitted)
Mine all works very nicely - couldn't get hold of the original bike loom connector - but 3 minicrimps have been good for the past couple of thousand miles without falling off or any issues
I'm using FZS 600? (think its a Yamaha 2 wheeled thing? LOL) carbs on my 2L Pinto powered 7
Choke size is about 34mm IIRC on mine and are just dandy on TPS
Mine are running slightly rich at top end due to getting too excited with drilling the main jets beore fully exploring for air leaks
went to 1.7mm before fully sealing the manifold..
The good news is that the jet needles can be raised and lowered by using clips so have managed to lean the midrange out but still have WOT nice and rich which is better than high speed/load leanout I guess
Got my first rolling road "dyno shootout" in a couple of weeks - hence wanting to get the dual maps sorted as we get 3 runs each and fancied trying a couple of maps- I'm sure there will be time to flick a dashboard switch between runs

My manifold was a bit of a one off for them as I insisted on small ID tubes to suit my smaller choked carbs
and specific angle of dangles etc
I know they were geared up flanges for the ford heads, hopefully they will be able to sort out for vauxhall as well
