Megajolt will not talk to pc

Post by Q102 »

Hello everybody

Got my Megajolt installed ok. V3.0.0 pcb
Downloaded latest config software.
Car starts in "Limp home" mode.
Tried to connect my laptop - using serial port - got message "Unsupported controller version"
Tried to download firmware - get message:
"waiting for HC08 reset ACK...recieved 0x18 (ignoring).
recieved 0x78 (ignoring).
recieved 0xfc (good)."
Then it just sits there
Anybody help?

It looks like you're running the V3.0.0 firmware. Have you tried downloading the V3.0.0 configuration software? You can install the new and old version side-by-side for the time being.

As far as updating the firmware- the hc08sprg.exe can be picky with some usb-serial adapters. are you using a regular PC serial port with your firmware upgrade attempts?

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Using a proper Serial port.
Just tried V3.0.0 config software - connects ok but displayed ignition advance not stable & TPS not moving (stays at full scale)
Why would the controller be a lower version - I only got it from you a month ago?

For the firmware version- the latest firmware was released just after your unit was manufactured and shipped.

However, first things first: you should be able to get up and running on the V3.0 firmware and then worry about upgrading later.

Your TPS stuck at full scale seems to indicate the TPS wiring might be wrong. Verify you have the wiring correct by referencing the diagram here:

http://www.autosportlabs.net/MJLJ_V3_ve ... g_the_MJLJ

make sure the TPS_INPUT is connected to the lead on the TPS that varies voltage as throttle opens/closes.

Then test the TPS with the engine to 'ON' but not running. you should see the TPS indicator change as you move the accelerator.

As for the ignition advance, can you describe what you mean by 'instable'? is the indicated RPM unstable as well?

Turns out my Serial lead is a bit dodgy.

Have now successfully downloaded latest version and communicates with pc ok.

Thanks for your help.
