Post by Tom »

Hi everyone how do?

I'm just now (finally) fitting my MJLJ to my 16v XE Escort and am wondering is there a mount avaialble for my coil pack or do i have to make one?

and

Can i run the wires straight from the EDIS to the coil pack or do i have to fit relays? i have no problems fitting relays, just need to know whether i need them

Thanks again, i'll keep you updated as to how it runs (or doesnt lol)

Tom :D

Hi Tom,

The ford coil pack is an odd shape, isn't it? Trigger-Wheels.com has nice brackets designed to mount these type of coil packs. See http://trigger-wheels.com

Cheers brent, i should've thought of them really as i got my wiring kit from them

will the EDIS - Coil wiring be ok? On BMW systems the primary ignition feed to the coil packs doesn't go through a relay so i assume this'll be ok?

Right- question #2. :)

What works and is straight forward is to power the coil pack, EDIS module and MJLJ from a common, relatively high current feed. A 15-20A source would work. Often the OEM wiring harness will drive this with a relay, as you suggested. This does take the load off of the circuit in the ignition switch.

The coil packs will consume almost all of the current, so to get the strongest spark you would want to feed it with a big pipe!
