newbie with probably a daft question

hi folks just ordered my mj as a little project for the next few weeks

my question is what lead do i need to connect the unit to my pc and/or laptop

A "Serial RS232 Extension Cable" ...

ie male at one end, female at the other and all pins wired one-for-one i.e
pin 1 - pin 1
pin 2 - pin 2
pin 3 - pin 3

The commonly available "null modem" cables that have the right mechanical fittings (male one end, female the other) will NOT work 8)

im not an expert, but that looks like the same as mine so i would say 'yes' it is the right one :)

you can buy usb to serial adapters. thats what i used. try to buy a good one though, not one of those 99p jobbies of ebay, people seem to have issues with them ones not working properly.

look online on www.ebuyer.com for a Belkin one. they are a good make i believe
