Hi,
Just installed MJLJ in my 2.0 Capri.
Its misfiring really badly though. At least think it is. When driving it judders alot and you can see the RPMs drop. Here's a video of the gauge taken while cruising at a constant speed on the motorway:

Any suggestions about where I should start looking to fix this? It happens on EDIS alone as well as under MJLJ control so can't be a problem with the MJLJ.
Cheers

Assume EDIS only....
- Sensor -> trigger wheel gap?
- Sensor mounting bracket stiffness (must have a lot!)?
- All wires and connections?
- Constant +12v to EDIS/coilpack?
- Arcing around coilpack HT posts?
- Plug leads?
- Plugs?
Then you're into component replacement. I'd do it in the order of:
- EDIS unit
- coilpack
- VR sensor
Is the timing rock solid 10BTDC (without the MJLJ connected) at idle and up to reasonable rpms (3000 or so) in the garage when observed by a timing light?

What should the gap be? I think mine is about 1mm. Will too small a gap cause problems?MartinM wrote:Assume EDIS only....

Going to investigate tonight, if I have no luck I will have to limp to the scrap yard tomorrow before work for coilpack and EDIS.
I'm hoping its a problem with an HT lead. I shortened them so something might not be right. Otherwise it might be a dodgy connection to the VR Sensor.
