Small 12v bulb for Shift Light

Post by richardk »

Hi all

Is it possible to use a small bulb like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DURITE-DASH-BOARD ... dZViewItem instead of a led, I already have a spare one so wouldn't have to buy an led version but just dont want to damage my megajolt.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Rich

Hi Rich,
The MJLJ outputs can handle up to 500 mA each. The bulb in the link you posted is rated at 1.2W, so 1.2W / 12v = 0.1 A (100 mA) . So you should be OK!

Hope this helps,

Just make sure it's bright enough - when the light comes on you'll be charging down the road and (hopefully) looking ahead, so you'll need something bright to attract your attention!

I used a 'hyper-bright' LED, which cost me around £1 ($2 ?) including a mount and resistor.

Thanks gentlemen. Will put it on and see how bright it is then.

Best wishes
