Anyone have a Ford Zetec map?

Post by stefz »

Hi,
I have been searching the web for info on a Zetec ignition map, and have had no-luck.
Has anyone here got a map for a 1800cc or 2000cc Zetec ?

would be most appreciated.

Zetec map availability

I too will need a map for an 1800 Zetec set-up. I am building a Megajolt to replace my old Webcon unit that went US. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can extract the data from the old ignition unit, this existing map I know works OK and would be a good starting point for anyone with a Zetec engine.
Cheers

If you have the Weber Alpha unit (ECU) you need the correct software to Download the 'stored Info'.
Unfortunatly this is only available at Weber Alpha Dealers.

I have Zetec Maps!!

Post by KITT »

Hi Stef,

I've now included a couple of Zetec maps on my website here:

http://www.cate1.co.uk/megajolt/mapping.php

I've not tested either of them as I don't have a Zetec. I would be interested to here how they run. They're based on a couple of Emerald ones I have so should work fine, but may need a little tweeking. You will probably have to set the TPS/MAP sensor load values to suit your max/min values as they're probably different to mine.

cheers

2 litre zetec tried and tested

Post by fatbaldbloke »

I've a 2 litre zetec in a westfield running with twin 40 DCOE's and tps. I installed the 3d map from Matt's site and it seems to run just fine. I haven't put the car on a rolling road, indeed it's not top of my priorities as it runs quite nicely, plugs are a good colour, progressive, decent fuel consumption, etc. Might do one day and if it changes I'll post an amendment, but my instinct now is that any idiosyncracies are more likely to be carb related and will be cured by going to throttle bodies than any more tweaking with the map. One of the problems with 3d mapping is that the low throttle running is so much more efficient than with the traditional distributor that the carbs are running on the idle circuit at quite decent road speeds, so little issues like the progression from the idle circuit to the main circuit which used to happen as soon as you got off the mark are now occurring at say 30-40 mph pottering round town. So, one's really seeking a level of refinement in the carbs that isn't there by design.
