Need a map for zetec that has no load data !

Post by miek150 »

Hi all, I'm running an 1800 zetec but due to the wierd application I can't run either TPS or take a vacuum. So what I need is a basic ignition map that'll give me the best timing.
These cars are run on a short oval, so the most crucial part is not an overall horsepower figure but the ability to get good torque off the corner.
They all run MJL and a twin choke weber. Unfortunately due to the rules that's as far as I can go but I figure that the MJL should be able to give what I need.
I think I have to make the assumption that the load on the engine will always be maximum so I reckon just an idea of the advance data under full load should work.
Any help would be great ! Thanks in advance, Miek..

Hello,

You can create the effect of 2D ignition by simply putting the same advance values in all of the load rows.

However, instead of running TPS on the carbs, can you put a knob (variable resistor) on the dashboard? That way, you could keep some of the '3D' ignition and have some tuneability. Not sure if it would be useful or if your class rules allow, but it's an idea you might consider.
