Can I use this coilpack????

Post by MiamiGus »

Hi there, i'm new here, just bought a MJJR unit, just wondering if I can use the coil pack I have with the MI16 engine to run the system instead of an edis Ford item?.
Also wondering if the trigger pickup, can be taken fro the sensor over the flywheel rather than have to use another sensor and trigger wheel on my front pully??

Any ideas guys.
Thanks,
Gus

hi gus,
you can definitely use some other coil packs, but i will leave to others to comment on yours, or the specs of suitable ones.

re the sensor, you can use any sensing arrangement, as long as it is a Variable Reluctance sensor, reading a wheel which has 35 teeth, and one gap, per engine rotation. so, yes, the flywheel is fine, as long as it has those specs. my guess is that you are referring to an existing trigger/sensor arrangement, however, which is unlikely to have the 36-1 tooth configuration, which EDIS requires.
