US vehicle sources for EDIS components?

Post by ptschram »

I've read many of the threads and much of the discussion on the megajolt lite jr and am almost ready to cross over to the dark side of distributorless ignition.

In the interests of keeping the R&D budget in check, I'd like to try the system with boneyard parts, but being more than a little ignorant of recent vintage Fords, I don't know which vehicles used the EDIS-8 systems.

Any suggestions?

Hi PT,

Late 90's era Crown Victoria or 5.0 Mustang should net you the parts you want. After a bit of training you'll see which vehicles have the EDIS system- coil packs and EDIS module bolted to the fender or firewall.

Thanx Brent, that's what I needed.

I'm off to do some more research!

The EDIS-8 module is used on the following vehicles equipped with the 4.6 liter V-8 Ford Modular engine between 1990 and 1997:

* Lincoln Town Car
* Ford Crown Victoria / Mercury Grand Marquis
* Ford Thunderbird / Mercury Cougar
* Ford Mustang

The EDIS-8 Module was also used in Some later 5.0L Ford Explorers until around 2002
