won't start... anyone have a idea

Post by vw16vt »

First about two weeks ago, the engine started perfectly, thtat's was when I had all the wires around laying just for a test. Started right up. I then decided to run the wire clean thru engine bay, solidify sensor and even got the toothed wheel machined so it's now perfectly center.

never been able to refire engine, when I'm lucky it backfires but will not run, I got sparks and fuel also. Seems like there's too much fuel. But it should fire anyway, even if I unplug megasquirt but leave ignition, it should fire..

Only thing that I'm worried, is while cranking, it shows 54deg advance.. toothed wheel never moved since it's been welded for a while, power at coil and edis module is correct, as well as ground on edis module.. coil as ground at suppression cap. pip and saw connected, or even with saw jumper removed no difference.

Spark doesn't seem to be that strong, could I change the gap? I tried 2-3coils and 2 edis modules... really clueless...

Bummer!

1) Do you show the 54 degrees with a timing light, or on the lap top?

2) Have you tried to start it with the MJLJ disconnected? That should fix timing at 10 BTDC.
