:-( Wont fire! - FIXED

Howdy,

New member - First post so go easy on me

I just installed the Megajolt and Edis 4 setup in my 1132 A-Series Mini Turbo.

Wired up correctly (not 100% sure on the VR Sensor polarity though) and the power to the EDIS + Megajolt.
Ill explain...

I got everything hooked up and tried to crank it, it turns, but wont kick... not even trying.

The thing I notice is that the MJ4 has a green 'Power' LED on it. When I am on AUX or Key to 'ON' its green (so its powered on) when I am 'cranking' the light turns off.

Should it have power during cranking? I presume so... ill try to fix it.
The EDIS and coilpack are powered from that same source.

Also, how can I check VR sensor polarity is on right?

This is my checklist this afternoon
1. Check I am getting spark from coil
2. Disconnect MJ and see if it runs with EDIS in Limp mode
3. Feed 12v power to MJ and EDIS from original coil power (that used to work so should still)
4. If the above all prove to be OK, but still no kick, ill swap VR sensor wires and try again.

I hooked up the MJ to the laptop and it all works ok... anything I should check in the program?
Any other tips or advice to look at this afternoon?

PS: Brent - Brilliant product mate but bne thing I would have loved - If the Megajolt already had a short wiring loom attached so we dont have to crimp our own Molex plugs...

Those things gave me the SH$#%TS I tell you - lol

Hi Peter,

First focus on getting the engine running on EDIS only- then you can bring the MJLJ into the picture once the engine is running correctly.

Your checklist is good- do follow that.

Two main things that stood out:

1. Lost power during cranking. If the EDIS is on the same circuit as the MJLJ (and it appears it is...) then it too would lose power and not fire your plugs. This is clearly the first thing to fix.

2. VR sensor polarity. If the EDIS module is indeed receiving power during cranking but the plugs won't fire, try swapping the sensor polarity.

Yes, the molex pins require a bit of patience to crimp and/or solder- but, for a minimal setup you really only need 4 wires to start: power, ground, PIP and SAW (for a MAP sensor setup). Many installations don't need all of the extra features, so rather than having a bunch of unused wires hanging from the molex, we let the users decide how to configure it.

Yes, I know, if the loom was attached I would prolly complain too lol... truth is, I only would like a loom because I had a friend calling out which molex plug went into which hole and he got one wrong, then I couldnt get it out and had to cut, change it all, etc... so truthfully its MY fault... molex plugs are not that bad

Ill follow your advice then, first thing, power to EDIS. - No MJ and see what happens.

Ok fixed.

The VR sensor wires were wrong (backwards)
Also, the power to EDIS and MJ were not there while cranking... fixed by splicing into ignition barrel.

Have a new prob though, but this is solved.
Will post a new topic.
