Oddfire V6 turbo

Post by jonnyboost »

Hi,

Will megajolt work with my oddfire crank v6 alongside the current injection system?

Cheers

John.

The precise question is, will the EDIS-6 module work with an Odd-Fire V6? Common wisdom says 'no', as the EDIS module is hard-wired to work with even-fire engines.

What specific engine/vehicle are you targeting- is it a Volvo B28 engine?

Its a Alpine Renault PRV engine. Thats a shame if it wont be possible is there any alternative other than an engine swap!

Thanks

John.

Hello John,

Our upcoming Megajolt2 project, which eliminates the EDIS module, will offer the potential to support odd-fire engines. We will be in beta testing later this year.

Hang tight and watch for updates!

we've thought about megajolting my dad's V6 alpine, the only way we can think of is to use 2 edis 6 units, and treat the engine as 2 3 cylinder engines, one edis for each bank. gets a single coil per plug too! the megajolt will receive the signal from one edis, and output the timing correction to both...

that's where the system may fall down, as the relative timings for the pip/saw signals to the second edis may not be in sinc. whether this is an issue we didn't find out, as we shelved the idea!

at least you are not alone with the prv v6!

I don't know if this will help but the early v6 buick engine were odd fire engines. These engine were fabricated from the existing v8s of the time, this was before the split throw crank. In any event these engines used the existing v8 ignitions systems with two of the distributor cap terminals blocked off. Depending on the degree of the firing order the same thing could be done with a edis 8 on a six cylinder motor, by not using one coil.

Edis 8 in a odd fire V6

Post by lars »

IS it possible to be more specific on how to do the "job"
on using a edis8 on a oddfire engine, ia am very not into engines.

is it possible to use a Edis( modul into a 6 coil distrbutor?
